Agentic UI with Angular: Building the User Interfaces of Tomorrow by Manfred Steyer

AI-powered systems based on Large Language Models are rapidly evolving beyond traditional chat interfaces. They are becoming agentic systems that can plan tasks, use tools, and orchestrate complex workflows. This shift introduces new requirements for UI architecture and frontend-backend integration.

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to build agentic applications with Angular. Using emerging standards such as AG-UI, A2UI, and MCP Apps, you’ll discover how to keep frontend and backend cleanly decoupled—without vendor lock-in and independent of backend technology.

By the end of the day, you’ll have a working prototype and a solid understanding of how to design and ship agentic user interfaces in production environments.

What you will learn
You will explore practical patterns for building next-generation AI-driven interfaces, including:

  • Connecting AI agents using AG-UI and tool calling (client & server side)
  • Building dynamic and adaptive UIs with A2UI
  • Managing memory, context, and real-time interaction flows
  • Integrating MCP Apps and third-party tools into the frontend
  • Implementing Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) patterns such as approvals, action cards, and co-planning
  • Designing safe, scalable agentic architectures with guardrails, routing, and workflows
  • Working with multimodal inputs like documents, images, and speech

Hands-on exercises
Throughout the workshop, you will build a real application, including:

  • A dynamic dashboard powered by A2UI
  • Agent-based workflows with tool integration via AG-UI and MCP Apps
  • HITL interactions such as approvals and user-in-the-loop decision making
  • Extensions with planning workflows, sub-agents, and multimodal data
